{"id":2738,"date":"2009-11-17T21:51:43","date_gmt":"2009-11-17T19:51:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.univie.ac.at\/Geschichte\/salon21\/?p=2738"},"modified":"2022-05-19T16:18:30","modified_gmt":"2022-05-19T16:18:30","slug":"cfp-postsocialism-transformation-and-gender-postsozialismus-transformation-und-geschlecht-publication-gender-dl-28-february-2010","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/salon21.univie.ac.at\/?p=2738","title":{"rendered":"CfP: Postsocialism, Transformation and Gender \/ Postsozialismus, Transformation und Geschlecht (Publication: Gender); DL: 28 February 2010"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Gender, Zeitschrift f\u00fcr Geschlecht, Kultur und Gesellschaft Issue 03\/2010 <\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gender-zeitschrift.de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">(Web)<\/a><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>9 November 2009 marks the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the historical starting point of the political and social transformation of the former socialist societies in Eastern and Central Eastern Europe, and the starting point for the German re-unification in 1990.<\/p>\n<p>While in the (early) 1990s, the discussion was still intense on the unification of two patriarchal systems and the alleged lead in gender equality in Eastern and Central European countries vis \u00e0 vis the Western neighbours, it seems to have become somewhat more quiet in the perspective of women and gender studies regarding state and consequences of transformation and respective gender effects.<\/p>\n<p>By now, from a gender perspective, the historical importance of the rivalry of the systems and the post-socialist constellations in East and West are hardly understood. At the same time <!--more-->the question arises what effects the new political situations have on politics of equal-ity and gender relations &#8211; in Germany the current strengthening of the left on the far side of the Social Democrats, and in some transformation states like Poland and Hungary a strengthening of the political right.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>new German journal GENDER. Zeitschrift f\u00fcr Geschlecht, Kultur und Gesellschaft<\/strong> that also publishes English contributions, dedicates the issue &#8222;Postsocialism, Transformation and Gender&#8220; (vol 3\/2010) to these correlations and is asking for original contributions from the social sciences and humanities not yet published.<\/p>\n<p>Contributions may, for example, deal with the following issues:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What influence did the fall of the Berlin Wall have on gender relations in politics, economy and society and the conditions of real life in East and West?<\/li>\n<li>What does the alleged lead in gender equality mean for women in Central and Eastern European countries, twenty years after? Did anything remain?<\/li>\n<li>How may the transformation of post-socialist societies in East and West be evaluated with special emphasis on gender politics?<\/li>\n<li>What is the value of politics of equality in the political and social transformation of the post-socialist countries in Europe?<\/li>\n<li>In what sense are the re-awakening political powers on the left and on the right influential concerning the transformation of gender relations? What does this mean, i.e., for a (new?) left feminism? What does it mean for a de- or re-traditionalisation of gender constructions?<\/li>\n<li>Is there an interdependence between low birth rates in all Eastern and Central European transformation countries and the post-socialist gender arrangements at work? How can this interedependence be understood?<\/li>\n<li>Are globalisation of labour and related migratory processes markedly gender related (i.e., migration related to house work and care, migration of young women from East to West)?<\/li>\n<li>Is the politically demanded and promoted dual-earner model a continuation of the socialist gender arrangement?<\/li>\n<li>How can emerging post-socialist concepts of masculinity be characterised?<\/li>\n<li>What gender theoretical concepts are available for the description of post-socialist constella-tions?<\/li>\n<li>How important are east-west-differences (still) in the current gender theoretical diagnoses of the time? How can this importance be understood in a context of a widening debate on inter-sectionality? And how can it be grasped methodologically\/methodically?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please, send your one to two page abstract of your projected contribution via email to Dr. Heike Kahlert (heike.kahlert@uni-rostock.de) and Dr. Sabine Sch\u00e4fer (sabine.schaefer@uni-bielefeld.de) by 30 November 2009. Zeitschrift f\u00fcr Geschlecht, Kultur und Gesellschaft as a newly founded journal on women and gender studies presents a forum for academic debate as well as discourse between academics and practitioners.<\/p>\n<p>The range of the journal extends from social to cultural topics &#8211; sociopolitical issues on equality and justice are addressed as well as issues of the orchestration and cultural interpretation of gender. The journal aims at a broad range of topics and academic disciplines, in which women, men, and gender issues are reflected. Following the multi-disciplinary setting of the journal, analyses are welcome from, i.e., sociology, pedagogy, political science, cultural science and history, which are adept to the interdisciplinary approach of gender studies. Furthermore, the analyses of local, regional and global impacts on gender relations are of interest.<\/p>\n<p>GENDER. Zeitschrift f\u00fcr Geschlecht, Kultur und Gesellschaft is published three times per an-num, each with a thematic focus, and some 480 pages per year. November 2009 j\u00e4hrt sich zum 20. Mal der Fall der Berliner Mauer, der den historischen Startpunkt f\u00fcr die politische und soziale Transformation der ehemaligen sozialistischen Gesellschaften im Osten Europas und die 1990 erfolgte deutsch-deutsche Wiedervereinigung darstellt.<\/p>\n<p>Wurde in den (fr\u00fchen) 1990er Jahren noch intensiv \u00fcber die Vereinigung zweier Patriarchate und \u00fcber den vermeintlichen Gleichstellungsvorsprung der osteurop\u00e4ischen Staaten gegen\u00fcber den westeurop\u00e4ischen Nachbarn diskutiert, so scheint es auch aus Sicht der Frauen- und Geschlechterforschung sowie der Gender Studies still geworden zu sein um den Stand und die Folgen der Transformation und ihrer geschlechtlichen Pr\u00e4gung.<\/p>\n<p>Bisher kaum aus Gender-Perspektiven begriffen sind die historische Bedeutung der Systemkonkurrenz sowie die postsozialistische Konstellation in Ost und West. Gleichzeitig stellt sich die Frage, welche Auswirkungen die neuen politischen Verh\u00e4ltnisse &#8211; in Deutschland das derzeitige Erstarken der Linken jenseits der Sozialdemokratie, in einigen osteurop\u00e4ischen Transformationsstaaten wie bspw. Polen und Ungarn das Erstarken der Rechten &#8211; auf die Gleichstellungspolitik und die Geschlechterverh\u00e4ltnisse haben k\u00f6nnen.<\/p>\n<p>GENDER. Zeitschrift f\u00fcr Geschlecht, Kultur und Gesellschaft widmet sich in einem Themenschwerpunkt zu \u201ePostsozialismus, Transformation und Geschlecht&#8220; (Heft 3\/2010) diesen Zusammenh\u00e4ngen und sucht daf\u00fcr unver\u00f6ffentlichte Originalbeitr\u00e4ge aus den Sozial-, Kultur- und Geisteswissenschaften.<\/p>\n<p>M\u00f6gliche Fragestellungen der Beitr\u00e4ge k\u00f6nnen sein:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wie hat der Mauerfall die Geschlechterverh\u00e4ltnisse in Politik, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft und die Lebensrealit\u00e4ten in Ost und West beeinflusst?<\/li>\n<li>Wie ist der vermeintliche Gleichstellungsvorsprung der Frauen im Osten 20 Jahre nach dem Mauerfall zu bewerten, und was ist davon geblieben?<\/li>\n<li>Wie ist der Umbau der postsozialistischen Transformationsgesellschaften im Osten, aber auch im Westen aus geschlechterpolitischer Sicht zu beurteilen?<\/li>\n<li>Welche Bedeutung kommt der Gleichstellungspolitik im politischen und gesellschaftlichen Umbau der postsozialistischen Transformationsstaaten Europas zu?<\/li>\n<li>Inwiefern haben wieder erstarkende linke und rechte politische Kr\u00e4fte Einfluss auf die Tran-formation von Geschlechterverh\u00e4ltnissen? Was bedeutet das z.B. f\u00fcr einen (neuen?) linken Feminismus? Was f\u00fcr eine De- bzw. Re-Traditionalisierung von Geschlechterkonstruktionen?<\/li>\n<li>Besteht eine Wechselwirkung zwischen den niedrigen Geburtenraten in allen osteurop\u00e4i-schen Transformationsstaaten und den sich etablierenden postsozialistischen Geschlechte-arrangements? Wie kann diese Wechselwirkung begriffen werden?<\/li>\n<li>Inwiefern sind die im Postsozialismus erfolgende Globalisierung der Arbeit und damit verbundene Migrationsprozesse geschlechtlich codiert (z.B. Hausarbeitsmigration, Abwanderung junger Frauen von Ost nach West)?<\/li>\n<li>Setzt sich im politisch geforderten und gef\u00f6rderten Zwei-Verdiener-Modell ein sozialistisches Geschlechterarrangement unter postsozialistischen bzw. kapitalistischen Vorzeichen fort? Wie ist dieses im Vergleich zu bewerten?<\/li>\n<li>Wie k\u00f6nnen die entstehenden postsozialistischen M\u00e4nnlichkeitskonzepte charakterisiert werden?<\/li>\n<li>Welche geschlechtertheoretischen Konzepte stehen zur Beschreibung der postsozialistischen Konstellation zur Verf\u00fcgung?<\/li>\n<li>Welche Bedeutung kommt der Ost-West-Differenz in aktuellen geschlechtertheoretischen Zeitdiagnosen (noch) zu? Wie l\u00e4sst sich diese Bedeutung im Kontext der um sich greifenden Debatten \u00fcber Intersektionalit\u00e4t begreifen? Zeitschrift f\u00fcr Geschlecht, Kultur und Gesellschaft ist eine 2009 neu gegr\u00fcndete Zeitschrift, die der Frauen- und Geschlechterforschung sowie den Gender Studies ein \u00fcbergreifendes Forum f\u00fcr wissenschaftliche Debatten, aber auch f\u00fcr die Kommunikation zwischen Wissenschaft und Praxis bietet.<\/p>\n<p>Das Spektrum der Zeitschrift umfasst gesellschaftliche und kulturelle Themen &#8211; sozialpolitische Fragen zu Gleichheit und Gerechtigkeit haben ebenso Platz wie Fragen nach den Inszenierungen und kulturellen Deutungen von Geschlecht. Intendiert ist ein breites Spektrum von Themen und wissenschaftlichen Disziplinen, in denen Frauen-, M\u00e4nner- und Geschlechterfragen reflek-tiert werden. Dem multidisziplin\u00e4ren Charakter der Zeitschrift entsprechend sind soziologische, erziehungswissenschaftliche, politikwissenschaftliche, kulturwissenschaftliche und historische Analysen willkommen, die dem interdisziplin\u00e4ren Charakter der Geschlechterforschung entsprechen.
