The interdisciplinary conference, titled \u201cUnveiling Hidden Discourses: 1968 Fifty Years Later,\u201d looks at this year and to evaluate its lasting consequences, in both negative and positive senses. The conference\u2019s aim is twofold:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>First, it will demonstrate what happens when unacceptable discourses refuse to remain unacceptable on a global scale and social implications that follow accordingly.<\/li>\n<li>Second, it will analyse 1968\u2019s legacy and how social movements were manifested in different expressions, such as cultural production, policy and ontological understanding.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Examples of such expressions were illustrated through theatre, the Civil Rights Act and pro-feminist demonstrations. It will also consider failures of 1968 movements and how this allowed for the establishment of extreme right-wing parties, such as the Front National in France following &#8222;mai 68&#8220;.
