The conferences have been organized by the European Network of Gender Equality in Higher Education, an informal network of academics and higher education practitioners from universities in Europe and elsewhere. The first Conference was organised by the University of Helsinki in 1998 and resulted in the creation of the Network. A number of selected papers were published as a book titled \u2018Hard Work in Academy: Research and Interventions on Gender Inequalities in Higher Education\u2019. Since that first conference, the European Network of Gender Equality in Higher Education has developed through an email distribution list (eq-uni[at]helsinki.fi managed by the University of Helsinki) which currently has nearly 400 subscribers from over 30 countries.<!--more--><br \/>\nWe are pleased to invite you to the fifth European Conference on Gender Equality in Higher Education. The conference will be in Berlin, Germany, at Humboldt-University<br \/>\nDate: August 28-31, 2007.<br \/>\nThe conference will open on the afternoon of Tuesday 28 August and close<br \/>\non Friday 31 August 2007 in the afternoon.<br \/>\nThe conference will be organized along four main tracks:<br \/>\n* Track A: Excellence, Research Policy and Gender Bias<br \/>\n* Track B: Disciplinary Perspectives<br \/>\n* Track C: Gender Equality Programmes<br \/>\n* Track D: Bologna-Process<br \/>\nThese will be organized in parallel workshops. Keynote speakers will introduce the themes in plenary sessions.
