The workshop aims to encourage reflection on the position of women in Polish and East German socialist film industries and film cultures from the end of World War II in 1945 to the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.<br \/>\nThe goal of the workshop is not only to highlight examples of film- and media-related work by women, but also to develop new comparative and transnational modes of evaluating Central and Eastern European women\u2019s filmmaking in its various sociopolitical, ideological and aesthetic dimensions.<br \/>\n<strong>Programm<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leibniz-gwzo.de\/sites\/default\/files\/dateien\/Konf_19_KI_Women%26%23039%3Bs%20Cinema%20in%20the%20GDR%20and%20Poland.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(PDF)<\/a><br \/>\nThe workshop is supported by the funds of the Deutsch-Polnische Wissenschaftsstiftung.<br \/>\nThe GWZO carries out comparative his\u00adtorical and cultural research on the region bordering the Baltic, the Black, and the Adriatic Seas from the Early Middle Ages to the present. There are  currently around 50 research scholars associated with the Institute conducting work both in Germany and abroad from across the range of humanities disciplines.
