Today the divorce of civil marriage is common practice in European societies. The fact that religious marriages regulated by faith communities could be divorced is still not widely conveyed.<\/p>\n<p>The historical studies that appeared in recent years make it clear that religions and denominations respectively differed as to the type of divorce they allowed, what divorce grounds they recognized, and whether they gave the divorced spouses the right to remarry. Divorced Catholics were forbidden to enter into a new marriage until the death of their husband or wife. On the other hand, the matrimonial property regime was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.univie.ac.at\/ehenvorgericht\/?p=9560\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8230; read more (Web)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; &#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Bis zur Einf\u00fchrung der Zivilehe konnten Ehen in allen europ\u00e4ischen Territorien nur nach den Bedingungen der Religionen bzw. Konfessionen geschlossen und getrennt werden. Die Scheidung der Zivilehe ist in den europ\u00e4ischen Gesellschaften heute vielgelebte Praxis. Das Wissen, dass auch religi\u00f6se, d.h. von Glaubensgemeinschaften regulierte Ehen, geschieden werden konnten, ist nach wie vor wenig verbreitet.<\/p>\n<p>Die in den letzten Jahren entstanden historischen Studien verdeutlichen, dass Konfessionen bzw. Religionen sich hinsichtlich der Frage unterschieden, welche Art von Scheidung sie erlaubten, welche Gr\u00fcnde sie anerkannten und ob sie den geschiedenen Eheteilen das Recht zur Wiederverheiratung gew\u00e4hrten. Geschiedenen Katholik*innen war es etwa bis zum Tod des Ehemannes bzw. der Ehefrau verboten, eine neue Ehe einzugehen.
