It seeks pre-modern as well as modern discussions of criminality, including morals policing and \u201ccarceral domesticity,\u201d and punishment in terms of institutions and structures of power, including church, family, and state. It encourages investigations of warehousing of people with disabilities and the locking up of the deviant and unruly, along with their degendering and hypersexualization. It seeks work on the treatment and resistance of trans and queer persons in carceral spaces.<\/p>\n<p>The editors are also interested in varieties of ideological and discursive frames, including liberation through the miracles of saints and ideologies of protection through fear of crime.
