The event will offer reflections on the importance of community archives in preserving feminist memory and documenting histories of resistance.<\/p>\n<p>Saadia Gacem is a PhD candidate in anthropology at Aix-Marseille Univ. Her research focuses on the judicial treatment of domestic violence cases in courts in Algiers. In 2019, she directed her first documentary film, Felfel Lahmar (&#8222;Red Pepper&#8220;). Saadia Gacem is a feminist activist with a strong interest in the history of feminism and the trajectories of women activists in Algeria. She co-founded the feminist magazine La Place with Maya Ouabadi and co-directs the Archives of Women&#8217;s Struggles in Algeria project with Awel Haouati.<\/p>\n<p>The public talk will be held at the VBK\u00d6 Archive, with guest speaker Saadia Gacem joining the talk virtually.
