Referat Genderforschung, Universit\u00e4t Wien \/ Gender Research Office, University of Vienna<\/strong><\/p>\n \n This conference on the construction of gender in soccer aims at filling the field of soccer with new contents: penaltykicking women, gay goalkeepers, lesbian fan clubs, husbands feverish for their playing wives. On the soccer field all these groups are on the ball. On the occasion of the European soccer championship this transdisciplinary conference conjoins scientific debate und practical knowledge. In 5 panels scholars and practitioners explore divergent views on and experiences with gender issues in soccer games and fan cultures.
