The conference will take place between 29-31 October 2007 in Israel.

The conference will focus on childhood and youth under the Nazi regime from a gender perspective. It will deal with a wide variety of topics with relation to the fate of children and adolescents beyond national, religious and ethnic boundaries.

Conference Goals
* To advance comparative, critical and feminist analysis of gender issues in relation to the research of the Holocaust.
* To raise new gender perspectives that will influence education and commemoration of the Holocaust.
* To encourage public awareness to gender topics concerning Holocaust research and remembrance.
* To form an international network of Holocaust researchers interested in gender and the Holocaust.
* To stimulate research and public debate on topics connected to childhood and youth during the Holocaust from a gender perspective.

Suggested topics for presentations in the conference:
* Degradation, exploitation and abuse of minors, from gender perspectives.
* Psychological and sociological perspectives concerning boys and girls, as arise from diaries and memoirs.
* Boys‘ and girls‘ heroic acts under the Nazi Regime.
* Boys‘ and girls‘ involvement and roles in the youth movements.
* Gender roles played by children and adolescents under the Nazi Regime.
* Artistic creation that focused on girls and boys in the Nazi era.
* Artworks of youth relating to gender, cultural and national issues.
* Righteous among the Nation – girls and boys.
* Rescue attempts of boys and girls.
* Gender issues concerning youth in the Ghettos, the camps and the death marches.
* Sexual abuse of children and
adolescents in the Ghettos and camps.
* The fate of babies and toddlers in the Holocaust.
* Gender issues concerning Gypsy youth during the Holocaust.
* Minors with no family: coping and rehabilitation after the war.
* Childhood and youth from a gender perspective in the Nazi ideology.
* Gender socialization of youth in Nazi Germany.
* The propagandist gender roles of youth’s images in Nazi cinema.
* The impact of the Holocaust experience on the emergence of youth’s rights in current society.
* The Holocaust and other Genocides – Comparative study of girls‘ and boys‘ survival.
* Girls and boys in memory and commemoration of the Holocaust in Israel and abroad.

The organizers of the Conference hereby issue an invitation to propose abstracts of presentations at the conference for:
* Scholars from relevant academic fields: history, anthropology, sociology, psychology, education, literature, art and others.
* Artists from the fields of literature, cinema, plastic arts etc., who are involved in the subjects of the Conference.
* Holocaust survivors whose testimonies shed light from different perspectives on the subject of childhood and youth in the Ghettos, Camps.
