La revue Genre & Histoire, revue électronique – 2007 créée à l’initiative de l’association Mnémosyne – est un espace de publication ouvert à toutes celles et ceux dont les recherches s’inscrivent dans le domaine du genre avec une attention plus particulière aux étudiant-e-s (Master et Doctorat) d’histoire ainsi qu’à celles et ceux d’autres disciplines – sociologie, philosophie, anthropologie, géographie, sciences politiques, sciences de l’éducation, littérature, civilisations, Staps – dont les travaux comportent une dimension historique. Outre des articles scientifiques, elle accueille, pour le moment, différentes rubriques : résumés de travaux soutenus, bibliographies thématiques, itinéraires.

FKW analysiert visuelle Repräsentationen und Diskurse in ihrer gesellschaftlichen und geschlechterpolitischen Bedeutung. So verbindet FKW kunst- und kulturtheoretische, bild- und medienwissenschaftliche, genderspezifische, politische und methodische Fragestellungen zu einer kritischen Kulturgeschichte des Visuellen. Fragen nach Konstruktionen im Feld der visuellen Kultur, nach Ein- und Ausschlussmechanismen, symptomatischen Subjektentwürfen wie unreflektierten Objektivierungen stehen im Vordergrund des repräsentationskritischen Interesses. Aus einer Perspektive heraus, die Wissen und Verstehen als dynamische, immer auch in Veränderung befindliche Prozesse begreift, sieht sich FKW als eine Plattform für konstruktive Auseinandersetzung und Diskussion, die dazu Denkanstöße geben und Wege des Umdenkens kritisch begleiten will. The IFRWH/FIRHF was founded in April 1987. The first meeting of national committee representatives was held in 1989, in Bellagio, Italy, with the assistance of the Rockefeller Foundation.

The Aim of IFRWH/FIRHF is to encourage and coordinate research in all aspects of women’s history at the international level, by promoting exchange of information and publication and by arranging and assisting in arranging large-scale international conferences as well as more restricted and specialized meetings. Das Tagebuch einer pensionierten Sozialarbeiterin aus den 1990er-Jahren wird ebenso vorgestellt wie das eines Zuckerbäckers aus dem 19. Jahrhundert oder einer Wienerin, die die Zeit des Zweiten Weltkrieges in einer damals so genannten „nicht privilegierten Mischehe“ (über)lebte.

Anhand dieser – und noch weiterer – Tagebuchbestände werden die Arbeit der Sammlung Frauennachlässe besprochen. Grundsätzliche Fragen der Genre-Diskussionen von auto/biographischen Quellen werden thematisiert und Projekte aus der Forschung und universitären Lehre präsentiert.

Der Erste Weltkrieg und das Ende der Habsburgermonarchie (Link zur Ausstellung)

Das neue Projekt des mehrfach ausgezeichneten Portals „Die Welt der Habsburger“, das in Kooperation mit zahlreichen Institutionen erstellt wurde, ging im Juni 2014 online. Für die umfangreiche Web-Ausstellung haben ein 7-köpfiges Team und eine Reihe von GastautorInnen unter der wissenschaftlichen Leitung von Franz X. Eder über 1.000 Abbildungen sowie Ton- und Filmquellen gesammelt.

Dabei ist Quellenmaterial aus unterschiedlichen Archiven sowie auch eine Vielzahl an Erinnerungsstücken aus Privatbesitz zusammengetragen worden. Eine Basis dafür bildeten ein Sammelaufruf, der in Kooperation mit der Dokumentation lebensgeschichtlicher Aufzeichnungen an der Universität Wien durchgeführt wurde sowie zahlreiche Bestände aus der Sammlung Frauennachlässe. H-Women seeks to recruit an energetic team of editors to help revive the reviews program for one of H-Net’s largest networks. H-Net Reviews has built a strong reputation for scholarly reviews over the last twenty years, taking advantage of the flexibility and relative speed of online publication while maintaining the highest scholarly standards.

Review editors at H-Women solicit and edit reviews of recently published books in women’s history and related fields. Possible additional areas of review coverage could include conferences, educational and documentary films, teaching materials, or textbooks. The RHN is an organization for the recognition and preservation of LGBTQ sites, history, and heritage. RHN aims to

  • Facilitate networking among LGBTQ preservationists, preservation organizations, community-based projects, and allies;
  • Advocate for LGBTQ sites, archives, and preservation initiatives and Local, state and federal funding of LGBTQ sites and heritage;
  • Represent LGBTQ communities in preservation circles;
  • Facilitate connections between appropriate repositories and contemporary donors (individuals or organizations) of historical material to ensure continuity of our historical record into the future; and
  • Provide resources for the LGBTQ communities and organizations that are concerned about or interested in learning about preservation of LGBTQ sites and heritage.

Conference: Women’s History in the Digital World, 21.-22.05.2015, Bryn Mawr/Philadelphia

Venue: Bryn Mawr College (Web: When the college opened its doors in 1885, it offered women the most ambitious academic program in the US.)
The conference aims to bring together experts, novices, and all those in between to share insights, lessons, and resources for the many projects emerging at the crossroads of history, the digital humanities, and women’s and gender studies.

  • Claire Bond Potter, Professor of History and Co-Director of the Humanities Action Lab at The New School for Public Engagement, will give the conference keynote address entitled „Putting the Humanities In Action: Why We Are All Digital Humanists, and Why That Needs to Be A Feminist Project.“
