Time: 19.11.2020, 17.15-18.00 Uhr
Venue: virtual space, via Karlstad
In November, NORMA published a special issue on “Men, Masculinities, and Reproduction”. The editors are Sebastian Mohr and Rene Almeling. The issue offers eight articles and a comprehensive introduction to state of the art theoretical and empirical explorations of men, masculinities, and reproduction within the transdisciplinary field of masculinity studies. The scholarship presented in the special issue covers various social and cultural contexts and reflects contemporary as well as historical engagements with the question of what defines the relationship between men, masculinities, and reproduction.
The issue is available online (Web).
Online-launch event
The editors will introduce the theme of the special issue and three authors will present insights from their articles. Finally, Marcia Inhorn will offer a reflection on the special issue’s different articles before there will be time to discuss men, masculinities, and reproduction together with all participants.
Participation in the event is free of charge and you can register for the event by sending an e-mail to NORMA’s secretary Luca Tainio: luca.tainio@kau.se Once you are registered, a link to the event will be made available to you prior to the launch. You can access the special issue on NORMA’s website (Link).
About the journal
NORMA is an international and interdisciplinary journal concerning questions about the body, about social and textual practices, and about men and masculinities in social structures. The editors aim to advance theory and methods in this field. The editors hope to present new themes for critical studies of men and masculinities, and develop new approaches to ‚intersections‘ with race, sexuality, class and coloniality. They are eager to have conversations about the role of men and boys, and the place of masculinities, in achieving gender equality and social equality.
The journal was begun in the Nordic region; it now strongly invites scholarly work from all parts of the world, as well as research about transnational relations and spaces. All submitted manuscripts are subject to initial appraisal by the Editors, and, if found suitable for further consideration, to peer review by independent, anonymous expert referees. All peer review is double blind and submission is online via Editorial Manager. Read more … (Web).
