Extended second call for papers to the conference

We have now received more than 50 abstracts for papers from researcher from all the Nordic countries and international researchers outside the Nordic countries for the first official conference arranged by the Nordic Society for Research on Masculinities (the provisional board) in cooperation with a.o. NeMM – Network for Research on Men and Masculinities, NIKK – Nordic Gender Institute, NORMA – Nordic Journal for Masculinity Studies, GEXcel Theme 2 at Tema Genus, Linköbing University, and Department of Psychology and Educational Studies, Roskilde University (RUC).

However, there is still room for a few more speeches within the different workshop themes. Accordingly, we encourage researchers, ph.d.-students, and students who have finished their master’s thesis to send in abstracts for the conference to the mail-adress: konference#nemm.dk.

The conference will be held in Denmark from January 28th to 30th 2009 and aims at enabling the exchange and collection of knowledge from research on a wide range of topics in relation to men and masculinities in ‘the gender equal Nordic countries’. The aim is to focus especially on furthering and strengthening the understanding and theorizing of Nordic masculinities and men’s experiences and conditions in the Nordic countries.

The conference will consist of both keynote speeches and discussions in a number of workshops held in the Nordic languages and English. The conference program, keynote speakers and titles of speeches, and all details and descriptions of the workshops can be found on our web site.

The deadline for submitting abstracts has been extended to October 6th 2008.

Last day to register to the conference is October 31st 2008.
