CfP: Black Woman and the Radical Tradition (Event: New York City), Deadline: 09.01.2009

Call for papers, panels and/or multimedia presentations: „Black Woman and the Radical Tradition“: National Conference, March 28, 2009, New York City

The Graduate Center for Worker Education and the Departments of Africana Studies and Political Science, Brooklyn College, CUNY call for papers and participation in a national conference honoring and examining the tradition of 20th century radicalism among black woman and the impact of that tradition across social movements, both national and international.

We welcome individual presentations/papers and proposals for panels from any of the social science disciplines, including law. Interdisciplinary and multimedia approaches will also be considered. The Conference is scheduled for March 28, 2009 at the Graduate Center, City University of New York, located at 34th Street and 5th Avenue.

Featured speakers include: Angela Davis, Manning Marable, Genna Rae McNeil, Bill Fletcher, Leith Mullings, Mary-Louise Patterson, Erik McDuffie and Gerald Horne.

Proposals should be no longer than 350 words in length, along with providing the presenter’s name, title, institutional affiliation (if applicable), address, phone number and email address. Please send papers, panel proposals and correspondence to:
