CfP: Panel on women’s and gender history at the 4th European Congress on World and Global History (09/2014, Paris); DL: 30.04.2013

4th European Congress on World and Global History (Web)

Venue: Paris
Time: 11-14 Sept 2014
Deadline: 30.04.2013

CfP from Elena Borghi: “I am trying to create a panel on women’s and gender history for the 4th European Congress on World and Global History, to be held in Paris on 11-14 Sept 2014.

I work on the history of the women’s movement in early-20th century North India, focusing in particular on the experience of the Nehru women, who found themselves at the intersection of the feminist and nationalist movements, and whose early feminist activism has been overshadowed by their engagement in the freedom struggle.

The panel could investigate the complex relation of women’s movements with other more dominant movements (like nationalist/anticolonial ones). Another theme could be the circulation of ideas and practices between women’s movements in Europe and in colonial contexts.

The panel should be composed of 4 participants (+ 1 commentator) and showcase studies from different countries and periods, as well as theoretical papers.

I look forward to hearing from you to discuss further and come up with some more precise ideas. If interested, please contact me at Elena.Borghi@EUI.eu“
