2010 AHA PANEL: Gender and Scientific Social Work in the Progressive Era
I am planning a panel on gender and scientific social work in the Progressive Era. My paper will examine the interaction between gender and scientific social work on the ground, where Red Cross social work experts devised new relief policies immediately following the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake and Fire. In addition to a gender analysis of disaster relief, the paper will include the experiences of both middle-class women volunteers and working-class women disaster survivors. I am looking for other scholars who work on this issue (not necessarily disaster relief) so that we can further explore the gendered evolution of social work.
Anyone interested in proposing a paper for this session, please contact me by email andrea.henderson#csun.edu.
The AHA deadline is Feb. 15, 2009.
