The Journal of Educational Administration and History is pleased to announce a call for papers for a Guest Edited Issue to be published in 2010. The focus is: Gender, History and Educational Administration. The Guest Editor is Dr Stephanie Spencer, University of Winchester, UK.
Contributions are invited on the issues raised by Joan Scott nearly 25 years ago in her much quoted article ‘Gender: A useful category of historical analysis’ (American Historical Review, 91 (5) 1053-1075). The relational nature of gender and its role as a signifier of power may today be further interrogated, enriched by the vast body of research into masculinities and the development of feminist theory since Scott’s article was published. In December 2008 The American Historical Review published five articles and a commentary from Scott returning to the question of gender as a useful category of analysis within current historical research. In this special edition of the Journal of Educational Administration and History we seek to continue this revision into the more focused realm of educational history and administration and draw contributions from a diversity of geographical regions.
If you would like to be involved please confirm by sending an abstract by email attachment to Stephanie Spencer (Stephanie.Spencer#winchester.ac.uk) by 1 May 2009. All papers will need to be written and submitted to Dr Spencer by 1 September 2009. All papers will be subject to rigorous peer review.
