Allison Scardino Belzer and Carey Olmstead Shellman are putting together a panel to submit to the European History Section for the Southern Historical Association Meeting 2014. The topic is women and World War I. The EHS put out a call: *In recognition that 2014 is the centenary of the beginning of the First World War, the committee encourages proposals related to European history in the era of the Great War.*

This panel will reflect on the connections between women and war, their role as participants (at the home front and the fighting front). One paper will focus on Italy. Another paper will focus on how women in the southern USA responded dealing with a topic from a country other than Italy & the USA.

Please send allison.belzer@armstrong.edu a short abstract by Tues., Sept 3 so the organziers can finalize the panel proposal. The deadline for submission is Sept 15.
