Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neighbourly Violence/Post-Violence Repair

Salary: £30,973 to £37,603 inc LW
The School of Advanced Study’s Human Rights Consortium invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow in Neighbourly Violence/Post-Violence Repair to help coordinate the running of a Mellon Sawyer Seminar Series entitled „Fratricide and Fraternité: Understanding and Repairing Neighbourly Atrocity,“ which is supported by a generous grant from the Andrew W. The successful candidate will be expected to:
* Organise the logistics for a series of inter-disciplinary conferences and seminars on neighbourly violence and post-violence repair;
* Conduct his/her own research on a theme related to the seminar series, and present that research at one of the events in the series;
* Engage with speakers and participants in the series on both an intellectual and practical level;
* Supervise two graduate fellows in organising the seminars.
The successful applicant will have a PhD (or be demonstrably close to completion) in the humanities, social sciences or law on a relevant topic, excellent organisational skills, and excellent written English. Prior experience in the organisation of events is desirable.
The appointment shall be made on a one-year fixed-term basis, starting in autumn 2009.
