Lesbian Lives XVII: ‚Lesbian Lives, Studies and Activisms: In-laws, Outlaws and Other Relations‘.
Conference Date: 19-20.02.2010 – University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland
Keynote Speaker: Sara Ahmed, Professor of Race and Cultural Studies at Goldsmiths College, London.
Call for Papers
Proposals are welcomed on (though are by no means limited to) the following: Social justice, kinships, gay marriage, monogamy, children, family, parenting, commitments, civil partnership, social networks, cyber relationships, dating/virtual dating, queer culture, celibacy, fidelity, rites/rights, ideas on past, present and future directions of lesbian lives and activisms.
The conference organisers welcome proposals for (A) individual papers, (B) panel sessions, (C) round table discussions, and (D) workshops.
(A) Individual Papers: Individual papers should last no longer than 20 minutes. Individuals should submit: (1) paper title, (2) short abstract (300 words) (3) biography (4) institutional affiliation and address, (5) AV requirements.
(B) Panel Sessions: Panels of academic papers must include 3 speakers and 1 moderator. Each paper should last no longer than 20 minutes. 30 minutes will be allotted for questions and discussion at the end of a panel presentation. Proposers should submit (1) session & paper title, (2) abstracts (300 words) for each paper (3) biography for each participant (4) institutional affiliation and address for each participant, (5) AV requirements.
(C) Round Table Discussions: Round table discussions should include 6 speakers and 1 moderator. Each paper should last no longer than 10 minutes with a further 30 minutes for questions and discussion. Proposers should submit (1) round table title, (2) rationale for round table (3) biography for each participant (4) institutional affiliation and address for each participant, (5) AV requirements.
(D) Workshops: Workshops last 90 minutes. Proposers should submit (1) workshop title, (2) rationale for workshop (3) biography (4) institutional affiliation and address (if relevant) (5) AV requirements.
