Proposals by: 15.07.2022

This international Workshop will analyse the historical roots of the violence against women and the effect of the patriarchal system on the Early Modern societies, a topic that is not a novelty, but that is extremely current nowadays. In this sense, the workshop will try to bring together those fields that use categories linked to the gender studies and the historical analysis, to examine considerations related to violence against women in its broader sense, to try to understand and give visibility to this catastrophic social evil.

  • Organizers: Margarita Eva Rodríguez García, Ignacio Atienza Hernández, Florencia Machado Pavoni, Isabel Gómez Capitan, Helena Guillén Hernando, and Lorenzo Scalone.
  • Guest Speakers: Pilar Pérez Cantó, Maria Luisa Candau, Antonio Gil Ambrona, and Francisco Ledesma Gámez.

This workshop will be composed by 12 papers. The official language of the workshop will be Spanish, but papers in other languages, especially in English, are not only allowed, but welcomed. Also, although the workshop will be mostly in person, there will be possible for the selected speakers to deliver their papers online, if they wish to do so (up to the 20% of the workshop).

The proposals should be composed by a title, name of the speaker and a brief summary of its content. They could be sent until July 15th, 2022 to isabel.gomezcapitan@estudiante.uam.es and lorenzo.scalone@estudiante.uam.es
