Women’s Studies Centre, founded at the University of Lodz in 1992, has successfully survived the turbulent years of political and institutional transformations in Poland. Facing the challenges of the times, it has laboured to promote the visibility of women and gender in the field of research, pedagogy and politics, widening social perception of and advancing respect for difference. Its productive functioning proves resiliency of coping strategies and inspires belief in the value of the collective effort invested theoretically, politically and socially in ongoing feminist criticism and creativity.
