The History Press invites you to join in our newest online forum on questions of local history, Historia Loci. This is the first discussion site for local history to be hosted entirely on Facebook, a popular online networking site. Each week we will post a new essay from our contributing historians and authors, written in response to a prompt given by History Press editors. There will be a new prompt and set of discussions each month, so keep the ideas flowing. This month’s essays will address the question „Why is local history relevant?“
To participate in the discussion and leave comments for our contributors, all you need to do is become a fan of The History Press page on Facebook by clicking here: The History Press Page and selecting „Become a Fan.“ If you are not currently on Facebook, it takes only a minute to set up your own profile. Simply click on the green „Sign Up“ button at the top of the page, or visit www.facebook.com and follow the instructions given on the welcome page. There are already over thirty-five Historical Societies with pages on Facebook, and many more historians have already begun to the site as an outlet for publicity, networking, and connecting with others in their field.
We encourage all of our fans to leave comments and continue the discussions begun by these history experts, and we hope that you enjoy this newest feature of our page.
