CfP: Women’s Roles in History Education (Event: „Big Berks“ 05/2014); DL: –

Berkshire Conference on Women’s History, Toronto, Canada, May 22-25, 2014, Website

Call for panelists from Kate Zankowicz and Rose Fine-Meyer: We are looking for one or two papers that will compliment our panel on women’s roles in history education broadly speaking, particularly women’s activism in cultural heritage spheres. While both papers focus on Toronto, we welcome international panelists who are researching women’s work in history education across disciplines and locations.

Kate Zankowicz: Objects Mean More: Towards a Women’s Museum Education History. This paper will examine women’s roles in museum education, both historically and contemporarily, and their initiative to make museums more accessible to Toronto’s various publics.

Rose Fine-Meyer
: Knowing Your Place: Integrating Women’s History in Diverse Learning Communities. This paper will examine the ways in which women’s voices are marginalized within historical examinations and within dominant national narratives in heritage spaces.
