The Fourteenth Annual Tri-University History Conference will be held at University of Waterloo (Waterloo, Ontario, Canada) on 10 November 2007. The Tri-University Graduate History Program, one of Canada’s largest and most comprehensive, unites graduate faculty and students at the University of Guelph, the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University. We welcome proposals for individual papers and complete panels from graduate students and established scholars in all fields and especially from those examining aspects of nationalism, identity and international/cross-cultural conflict.
Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:
· West and East, “Old Europe”, “New Europe” and the US (dialogues and strains)
· Imperialism, colonialism, multiculturalism and globalisation
· Borderlands (ethnicity, culture, religion, migrations and diasporas)
· Ideologies and their impact
· Radicalism, violence and war (conventional, religious and ethnic conflicts, genocide, trauma, civil, human rights and peace movements)
